Turkish aid organizations' relief efforts for Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh are unmatched, head of a U.S.-based aid organization said.
Slim Rais -- a long-time aid worker and inspector in the Love Army -- spoke to Anadolu Agency about his experiences with the Turkish humanitarian groups.
The Love Army is based in Oakland, California and provides humanitarian aid in the U.S. as well as in many countries, including Bangladesh and Somalia. According to its website, it has a total of 123,000 members and 49,000 volunteers worldwide.
"No one [other than Turkish NGOs] reached [this] point of quality," Rais said, adding that he had previously coordinated with Turkish groups for relief efforts in Palestine, Sudan, Syria and Somalia.
Rais, who has been an active aid worker since 2003, said Turkish aid groups were examples of "honesty" and "organization".
Rais praised Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and said he is the only Muslim leader "defending the interests of the Muslims."
"I think he is a brave president," he added.
