US starts realizing ‘danger’ posed by FETO: FM Çavuşoğlu

Turkish foreign minister on Thursday said the U.S. has started to realize the danger posed by Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO).

"FBI has started a serious investigation. As they have launched investigation, they started to see how dark and dangerous it (FETO) is," said Mevlut Cavusoglu, while speaking at an event in northwestern Sakarya province.

FETO and its U.S.-based leader Fetullah Gulen orchestrated the defeat coup on July 15, 2016 in Turkey, which left 251 people martyred and nearly 2,200 injured.

Ankara also accuses FETO of being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, including the military, police, and judiciary.

FETO also has a considerable presence outside Turkey, including private educational institutions that serve as a revenue stream for the terrorist group.

Cavusoglu said the U.S. has also started realizing that the FETO has been breaching the laws in the country.

The foreign minister said Turkey will continue to provide dossiers to FBI about the activities of the terrorist organization.

However, he said the Turkish nation is disturbed with the fact that the leader of FETO is still in the U.S.

He called on the U.S to extradite Gulen to Turkey.
