A total of 49 Daesh-linked terror suspects were arrested on New Year's Eve across Turkey, security sources said on Monday.
Police arrested five foreign nationals in central Konya province, seven suspects -- including five foreign nationals -- in eastern Elazığ province, four suspects -- including three Syrians -- in northwestern Kocaeli province and nine suspects -- including eight Syrians.
The police also held three Iraqis in Black Sea province of Samsun, five suspects in Çorum and 16 others in southern Mersin province.
Security forces have been involved in a long-running campaign to rid Turkey of Daesh terrorists.
More than 300 people have lost their lives in Daesh-claimed attacks in Turkey, where the terror group has targeted civilians in suicide bomb, rocket, and gun attacks.
