Nearly 25,000 drug pills seized at Istanbul airport

Turkish customs security forces seized 24,800 opiate pills in an operation at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport, the Trade Ministry said on Tuesday.
According to a statement, the drug pills with a net weight of 6.2 kilograms (13.6 pounds) were found in two suitcases of a passenger who came from Amsterdam and was headed to Kabul, Afghanistan via transit from Istanbul.
It is estimated that the market value of the seized pills equals 1 million Turkish liras ($192,000).
The passenger has been arrested by security forces.
