The Turkish football club Istiklal Mobilya Kayserispor elected Berna Gözbaşı acting chairwoman following resignation of former chairman Hamdi Elcuman on Friday.
The Kayserispor board elected Berna Gözbaşı acting chairwoman with unanimous vote after former head Hamdi Elcuman's resignation, the club said on its website.
Kayserispor will hold the general meeting to elect the permanent chairperson on Nov. 30, when Gözbaşı will also run to lead the club.
"I will struggle for Kayserispor, which is the most valuable brand in Kayseri, to make it in a better position," Gözbaşı told Anadolu Agency.
The businesswoman Gözbaşı has been serving for IM Kayserispor as a board member for the last three years.
Gözbaşı also served as an adviser for many companies on marketing and foreign trade and she worked actively in the Middle East, East and West Africa markets on 2001-2006, holding many awards for her entrepreneurship.
The Yellow-Reds, founded in 1966, is a Turkish football club located in the country's central province of Kayseri.
Kayserispor are currently at the bottom of the Turkish Super Lig with seven points.
They also had the Turkish Cup, winning against Gençlerbirliği in 2008.
