Turkey's state-run aid agency on Wednesday distributed food among 1,200 families in Thailand amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.
The Turkish Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA) distributed food in the southern Songkla province with the coordination of Embassy of Turkey in Bangkok, and the Central Islamic Council of Thailand (CICOT).
Surin Palarae, CICOT's secretary-general, thanked TIKA and the Turkish mission for their support.
Turkey's ambassador to Thailand, Evren Dagdelen Akgun, underlined the importance of helping, especially when COVID-19 has affected billions of people around the world.
"Our help in these difficult days lead to strengthening our ties between Thailand, which is geographically far," Akgun told Anadolu Agency.
The virus has killed more than 478,200 people worldwide, with total infections reaching over 9.29 million, according to figures compiled by US-based Johns Hopkins University.
