At least one member of the PKK terrorist group surrendered to security forces in southeastern Turkey, the Interior Ministry announced Thursday.
The terrorist laid down arms in the Mardin province following persuasion efforts by police and gendarmerie in coordination with the Interior Ministry, the ministry said in a statement.
Thus, the number of terrorists who surrendered through persuasion in 2020 rose to 141.
In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US, and EU -- has been responsible for the deaths of 40,000 people, including women, children and infants. The YPG is PKK's Syrian offshoot.
