Türkiye suspends maritime traffic in Çanakkale Strait due to heavy fog

Türkiye closed the Çanakkale Strait to ships early Monday due to heavy fog, authorities said.
The Çanakkale Strait Ship Traffic Services Directorate said in a statement that two-way ship traffic had been suspended through the strait as of 5.30 a.m. local time (0230GMT).
Captains of ships entering from the north and south were warned that the strait has been closed to two-way transit.
The fog, which had intensified in the morning, caused a decrease in visibility for sea travel.
