Maritime traffic in the Istanbul Strait has been temporarily suspended because of fog, the Turkish Transport and Infrastructure Ministry said late Thursday.
"Ship traffic in the Istanbul Strait has been temporarily suspended in both directions due to limited visibility (fog)," it said in a statement.
Ship traffic was halted in the strait earlier in the day.
The strait links international shipping between the Black Sea and the Sea of Marmara, which connects to the Aegean and Mediterranean seas.
