Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on Monday discussed ties between their countries as well as regional and global issues, Türkiye's Communications Directorate said.
In a phone call, Erdoğan welcomed the continued development of Türkiye-Brazil relations, whose strong foundations were laid 20 years ago, a directorate statement said.
He said deepening cooperation in all areas, particularly investment, trade, and the defense industry, would benefit both countries.
Erdoğan also said he believed Türkiye and Brazil could establish a model of economic cooperation that would enhance the prosperity of both countries' peoples in the face of protectionist trends.
He added that the peace-oriented policies pursued by Türkiye and Brazil on regional and global issues contribute to world peace.
