The spokesperson for the Justice and Development (AK) Party Ömer Çelik made statements while the vote counting process continues in the May 14 elections.
''We want our national will to be manifested definitively. We are making a call to wait at the ballot boxes. We have once again demonstrated to the whole world the power of our democracy and how to wage a democratic struggle.'' Çelik said.
''The counting continues. All political party representatives, officials and citizens follow the process. Vote counting also proceeds in a transparent manner.'' he emphasized.
''We, as the AK Party, consider it important for our citizens from all political parties to follow the processes. The manifestation of the national will is our common desire. Our greatest wealth is that we have a functioning democracy.''
Çelik also criticized the opposition bloc for making false statements about the election results.
''Before the results are finalized; even when there was no agreement on making very definite comments on the results, suddenly the spokesperson of the opposition bloc, the mayors, appeared on television in a rush. They tried to say in the classical way that Anadolu Agency (AA) skews the data.'' he said.
Çelik said this was an attempt to assassinate the principle that sovereignty unconditionally belongs to the nation.
He continued his speech by saying: ''Our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is leading the presidential election in initial partial results. Despite this, we do not go out and announce the result of the election. We respect the legal mechanisms, the counting process and the authority of The Supreme Election Council (YSK) to explain the results.''
