Anti-Turkey attitudes continue in EU
The European Parliament's Turkey rapporteur, Kati Piri, known for her anti-Turkey views, has called on the European Union to immediately suspend Turkey's accession negotiations if Ankara does not pledge to annul a new constitutional package approved by the public in a referendum on April 16th.
Dutch lawmaker Piri claimed that Turkey cannot join the European Union with the new constitution, stating that it is not accord with copenhagen criteria.
The recent decision by the parliamentary assembly of the council of Europe to reopen monitoring of Turkey, combined with the latest statements by Turkey rapporteur piri, have only served to underline increasing anti-Turkey attitudes across Europe.
