Racist man in California mocks Muslim woman of wearing niqab

A coffee chain in California is being praised on social media for its response to a man making Islamophobic comments to a woman wearing a traditional niqab.

The harassment, captured on video that was shared on social media on Saturday, coincides with what researchers and Muslim-American advocates say has been a spike in such cases across the country.

The altercation reportedly took place at a coffee shop on Friday when a man made a racist remark to a Muslim woman standing behind him in line.

The unidentified man was recorded mocking the woman's niqab, asking her "is this halloween or something?"
Not long after, another customer stood up for the muslim woman and staffers told the man to leave.

The racist man then asked for a manager and took down the name of a supervisor before leaving.

Condemning the man's racist attitude, the supervisor simply told the man to leave, adding that the cafe would not be serving him.
Social media users praised the supervisor and the customer who intervened, as well as the victim for standing up for herself.
