Russia uses veto power twice in 2 days
For the second time in as many days, Russia vetoed on Friday a U.N. Security Council resolution on chemical weapons attacks in Syria.
The Japanese-drafted resolution would have extended by one month a joint inquiry by the U.N. and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons into the blame for those attacks.
With 12 votes in favor, the resolution would have passed, but permanent member Russia used its veto power and voted no.
