A reporter for the Erbil-based Zagros/ARK TV channel has been kidnapped by PYD/PKK terrorists in northern Syria, according to the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP).
Barzan Hasan Lilani was abducted in the Rimelan region of Syria's northern Hasakah province on Sunday, the KDP -- a leading Kurdish party in Iraq's semi-autonomous Kurdish region -- declared on its official website on Monday.
"Lilani was kidnapped in Rimelan by a group of masked gunmen belonging to the PKK," the website quoted Hussein Hal, a member of Syria's Kurdish National Council (KNC), as saying.
"The gunmen forced Lilani into a car that didn't have any license plates and whisked him off to an unknown location," Hal added, saying the kidnappers had "chanted anti-KNC slogans".
According to the abducted journalist's brother, Gulal Hassan Lilani, there has been no information regarding his brother's fate.
Hasan Ali, managing director of the Zagros/ARK TV channel, has called on the abductors to free the reporter "as soon as possible".
