More than two-thirds of Germans expect US President Donald Trump to leave office before his four-year term ends, according to a survey released Saturday.
Only of quarter of respondents believe he will stay in office for the full term, the opinion research group Civey found in its survey for Die Welt newspaper.
Supporters of the far-right populist party Alternative for Germany (AfD) were most optimistic about Trump, with 56.6 per cent saying Trump will make it through to 2021.
At 80.7 per cent, supporters of the centre-left Social Democrats were most inclined to think the odds are against the 45th president. But voters of Chancellor Angela Merkel's conservative alliance were not far behind with 79.1 per cent.
The pollster asked 5,022 respondents between May 18 and 19 the question: "Do you believe that Donald Trump will stay in office until the end of his regular term?" The survey has a margin of error of 2.5 per cent.
