Israeli forces shot dead a Palestinian in the West Bank on Monday for allegedly attempting to attack a soldier.
In a statement, the army said the Palestinian attempted to ram his car at a junction on the road between the settlements of Tekoa and Efrat in central West Bank.
It said the attacker then jumped out of his car with a knife and lightly injured a soldier standing nearby.
The Palestinian man was shot dead by Israeli soldiers, the military said.
The slain Palestinian has yet to be identified.
Since October of 2015, more than 285 Palestinians have been killed following alleged attacks on Israelis or in clashes with Israeli forces, according to Palestinian figures.
The Israeli authorities, for their part, say almost 50 Israelis have been killed in attacks carried out by Palestinians over the same period.
