Fiorentina striker Cyril Thereau scored a brace to help La Viola beat his former side Udinese 2-1 at the start of the Serie A Sunday programme.
The Frenchman pounced after two saved efforts from team-mates in the 28th and 57th minute before Brazilian Samir pulled one back for the Udine visitors.
Fiorentina are 11th on 10 points, while Udinese trail by six points in 13th position.
Six more games, including the late city derby between Inter Milan and AC Milan, are to be played on Sunday. Verona v Benevento is set for Monday.
