Population of Syrian towns freed from Daesh increases

The population has increased by over four times in northern Syrian towns liberated from Daesh terrorist group, according to latest figures.

The number of the people returning to their homes in the Jarabulus, al-Bab and Dabiq districts has been increasing every day, according the census held by local councils.

More than 2,000 square kilometers of territory from Daesh was liberated in Operation Euphrates Shield -- an anti-Daesh operation of the Free Syrian Army backed by Turkish military -- which started last August and ended this March.

Last month, Turkish Presidential Spokesman İbrahim Kalın said that around 100,000 Syrian refugees have since returned to their homes.

The population in Suran town of northern Aleppo province had decreased to around 5,000 during Daesh invasion, but now 25,000 people are living in the town, the census revealed.

The population of the border town of Choban Bey -- which lies across southern Turkish province of Kilis -- was 4,000 before Turkish military conducted the operation. It has risen to over 20,000 right now.

The number of people living in Aleppo's Jarabulus district, which was the first spot cleared from the terrorist group, was 7,000. The census showed that the district now hosts 36,000 people.

12,000-people al-Bab had turned into a ghost city after people fled the conflicts between Daesh and the Free Syrian Army backed by Turkish military.

The census shows that the population has increased to 106,000 now in the city, where Turkey helped reconstruction works.

In another town of Mare, located in southern Azaz city, the census shows, 27,000 people are living right now. This number had decreased to 7,000 because of the attacks by PKK/PYD and Daesh terror organizations.

The population of Dabiq has risen to 12,000 from 4,000 people, while Qabasin's population has risen to 30,000 from 11,000.
