PYD/PKK supporters this time uses image of Syrian baby to smear Turkey's Afrin operation

Supporters of the PYD/PKK terror group have used an image of a Syrian baby who died during the siege in Syria's Eastern Ghouta to mislead people into thinking the photograph is from northwestern Afrin region where Turkey has launched a military operation.

The smear campaign against Operation Olive Branch now includes three more fake photos that are being used to provoke the public.

This time the PYD/PKK supporters used images from Eastern Ghouta to smear the Afrin operation.

The photo of 18-month-old Umame, who died of malnutrition during the siege of Eastern Ghouta, was circulated under the false tag "The baby killed by Turkish Armed Forces".

Another photo of the dead body of a child, posted on social media under the fake title "Turkish Armed Forces target children", was indeed taken in Aleppo and used by a website on Jun. 10, 2013.

Another photo used as part of the black propaganda is titled "Turkish Armed Forces damage historical artefacts in Afrin". The picture was taken in Turkey's eastern province of Tunceli during an operation on Jan. 31 against the PKK terror group where the historical artefacts from medieval times were confiscated.

On Jan. 20, the Turkish army launched Operation Olive Branch to remove PYD/PKK and Daesh terrorists from Afrin. According to the Turkish General Staff, the operation aims to establish security and stability along Turkey's borders and the region as well as protect Syrians from terrorist oppression and cruelty.

The operation is being carried out under the framework of Turkey's rights based on international law, UN Security Council resolutions, its self-defense rights under the UN Charter, and respect for Syria's territorial integrity.

The military has said only terror targets are being destroyed and "utmost care" is being taken to avoid harming civilians.
