Russia has announced a daily humanitarian ceasefire for Eastern Ghouta near Damascus, state news agency TASS reported, following sustained airstrikes on the rebel-held area.
The pause in hostilities would last from 9 am to 2 pm (0700 to 1200 GMT) each day, starting Tuesday, TASS reported, citing Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu.
A humanitarian corridor would be set up to allow civilians to leave the area.
The UN Security Council on Saturday voted unanimously in favour of a 30-day humanitarian ceasefire across Syria after deaths in Eastern Ghouta exceeded 500 over the past week.
Russia is a major ally of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
