Turkish charity organization Humanitarian Relief Foundation, or IHH, has opened a water well in the Abeche region of the central African country of Chad, the aid group said in a statement Tuesday.
IHH said the 120-meter deep well can provide water for up to 5,000 people and it is the 332nd water well that IHH has dug in Chad.
The charitable group has opened nearly 6,800 wells in 36 countries since 2000 in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East and helped millions of people access to clean water.
An inauguration ceremony was held on Monday which was attended by Abeche Governor Khadidje Assamah.
IHH said it planned to open 5 more water wells in the Abeche region.
