A Palestinian youth was injured Monday by Israeli army gunfire near the Gaza-Israel security fence, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
In a statement, ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qidra said the 16-year-old boy -- whose name was not given -- had been shot in the shoulder east of Rafah city in the southern Gaza Strip.
According to an Anadolu Agency correspondent based in Gaza, the teenager had been accompanied by three friends at the time whose fate remains unknown.
The Israeli army, for its part, has yet to comment on the incident.
