Twenty-one people were injured on Thursday when two trams crashed into one another in the south-western German city of Mannheim, police and the fire brigade said.
Two people were admitted to hospital with serious injuries, while 19 others sustained minor injuries in the crash, which occurred in central Mannheim around 6 am (0400 GMT), the officials said.
A police spokesman said that part of the city centre had been cordoned off as a result, and that the incident was causing major traffic and public transport disruptions.
