Israeli police on Monday arrested two young Palestinian residents of Jerusalem after raiding their homes, according to a local activist.
Amjad Abu Assab, head of the Jerusalem Prisoners Committee, told Anadolu Agency that police had arrested the two young men -- Abdullah Najib and Abdullah Bakri -- after raiding their homes in Jerusalem's Old City.
The Israeli army frequently conducts sweeping arrest campaigns on the pretext of searching for "wanted" Palestinians.
In a related development, Israeli Jerusalem municipal workers on Monday assaulted several Palestinian street vendors in the city's Al-Masarara district.
According to eyewitnesses, municipal workers assaulted the vendors and seized some of their goods on the pretext that they lacked commercial licenses.
