Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) called a pipeline agreement between Egypt and Greek Cypriots "a new attempt of unlawfulness", according to the Deputy Prime Ministry and Foreign Ministry on Thursday.
"What the Greek Cypriot leadership tried to make as of yesterday regarding the future of the resources of the region, is a new attempt of unlawfulness," it said.
The statement said the attempt meant trying to usurp the rights of Turkish Cypriot people.
"Greek Cypriot side does not have the jurisdiction to dispose like this about the future of these resources which also belong to Turkish Cypriots," the statement said.
The statement said the attempt shows that Greek Cypriots are not only unwilling to share the administration with Turkish Cypriots, but also the resources.
It said that they will not tolerate harm on the rights of Turkish Cypriot people with steps they will take in cooperation with Turkey very "soon".
The statement also criticized all actors who promote or overlook the Greek Cypriot side's unilateral moves.
On Wednesday, the Greek Cypriot administration and Egypt signed an agreement for the construction of an underwater pipeline to export natural gas from the island to Egypt.
Cyprus was divided into a Turkish Cypriot state in the north and a Greek Cypriot administration in the south after 1974 military coup was followed by violence against the island's Turkish people, and Turkey's intervention as a guarantor power.
The status of the island remains unresolved in spite of a series of discussions that resumed in May 2015.
There has been an on-and-off peace process over recent years, the latest failed initiative having taken place in Crans-Montana, Switzerland under the auspices of guarantor countries Turkey, Greece and the U.K., collapsing last year.
