US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley has resigned, US media outlets, including Axios and CNN, reported Tuesday.
The reports noted that Haley is in Washington and could make an announcement with President Donald Trump.
If confirmed, the move would be a surprise, especially coming just before the midterm elections next months and would be seen as a blow to the White House, which has a relatively high turnover rate.
Haley is a conservative and a Republican Party loyalist, though she had backed another candidate in 2016 in the party's primary before ultimately coming on board with Trump.
