Reports: Number of far-right demonstrators rises in Germany
According to government figures cited by the publications of Germany's Funke Media Group late Thursday, in the first nine months of the year, 15,264 people took part in right-wing extremist marches. That tally is higher than the whole of the previous year, when 11,285 neo-Nazis took to the streets.

The number of right-wing extremist demonstrators in Germany has risen sharply since last year.
From July to September, 7,614 neo-Nazis took part in 23 right-wing extremist demonstrations and marches, according to government figures cited by the publications of Germany's Funke Media Group late Thursday.
In the same quarter of 2017, the figure stood at 3,040.
The figures came to light following a question in the German parliament by the opposition Die Linke (The Left) party.
In the first nine months of the year, 15,264 people took part in right-wing extremist marches. That tally is higher than the whole of the previous year, when 11,285 neo-Nazis took to the streets.
The figures were much higher in 2015 and 2016 at the height of Germany's refugee crisis: In 2015, there were almost 60,000 right-wing extremist demonstrators, and in 2016 almost 30,000.
