Trump accuses Cohen of 'lying in order to reduce his prison time'
Donald Trump sought Wednesday to distance himself from Michael Cohen as his ex-attorney planned to testify to Congress about the US president's business dealings and personal conduct. "Michael Cohen was one of many lawyers who represented me (unfortunately)," Trump tweeted while in Vietnam for a nuclear summit with North Korea. "He is lying in order to reduce his prison time," he said, adding that Cohen had been disbarred by the state of New York for lying to Congress.

US President Donald Trump lashed out at Michael Cohen on Wednesday, ahead of his former personal attorney and fixer's scheduled testimony before a House committee.
"Michael Cohen was one of many lawyers who represented me (unfortunately). He had other clients also," Trump wrote on Twitter, hours before the president was set to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Hanoi.
"He was just disbarred by the State Supreme Court for lying and fraud. He did bad things unrelated to Trump. He is lying in order to reduce his prison time. Using Crooked's lawyer!" he added.
The last line was an apparent reference to Hillary Clinton, whom Trump called "Crooked Hillary" during the 2016 presidential campaign.
