The Israeli army on Friday struck two Hamas positions in the blockaded Gaza Strip.
According to an Israeli army statement, two Hamas "military positions" were targeted by airstrikes and tank-fire.
The army claims the attacks were carried out after an Israeli military force came under fire near the Gaza-Israel buffer zone.
No Palestinian groups, however, have claimed responsibility for the alleged shooting incident.
According to an Anadolu Agency correspondent based in Gaza, Friday's attacks targeted positions east of Gaza's Bureij refugee camp and east of Gaza City.
No casualties have been reported as a result of the strikes.
