The Turkish Journalists' Association (TGC) on Monday strongly condemned Israel for attacking Anadolu Agency office in the Gaza Strip on Saturday.

"Israeli army's attack on a building in which Anadolu Agency office was located in Gaza is unacceptable. News agencies should do their duties in conflict areas," TGC said in a statement, uploaded on its website.

The association added that attacks against journalists amounted to disregarding the law and thus fall under the scope of war crimes.

"We condemn Israel's attack against Gaza and our colleagues at Anadolu Agency," the association said.

Israeli warplanes hit the building, that housed the office of Anadolu Agency, with at least 5 rockets after firing warning shots on Saturday. No casualties were reported, but the building was razed to ground.

Founded in 1920, Anadolu Agency currently produces news in 13 languages and serves to 6,000 subscribers in 93 countries. The Agency employs at least 3,000 people, stationed in 100 countries.

On a daily basis, Anadolu Agency on an average publishes 1,600 stories, 2,300 photos, six infographics, and 400 videos, and airs 15 live broadcasts.
