Israel has found a location for the new settlement that will be named after U.S. President Donald Trump in the occupied Golan Heights.
"The government has already found the location for the establishment of the new community in the Golan Heights," said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at a weekly Cabinet meeting on Sunday.
"The name of the community will be brought to the Cabinet for its approval when it is established," he said.
According to Israeli figures, the settlement will be built in northern Golan and at first some 120 families will live in it.
On March 21, Trump signed a presidential proclamation officially recognizing the occupied Syrian Golan Heights as an Israeli territory.
Israel occupies roughly two-thirds of the wider Golan Heights as a de facto result of the 1967 Middle East war. It moved to formally annex the territory in 1981 -- an action unanimously rejected at the time by the UN Security Council.
The UN Human Rights Council adopted a resolution opposing Israel's continued occupation of the Golan Heights.
