Turkey requests Bosnia and Herzegovina to return FETO suspects

The head of Bosnia and Herzegovina's presidency on Tuesday said that Ankara has requested it to extradite suspected members of FETO, the terrorist group behind the 2016 defeated coup in Turkey.

Turkish institutions have identified individuals and institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina linked to the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO), Milorad Dodik, Serb member and current chair of the Bosnia-Herzegovina Presidency, told reporters.

His remarks followed his meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during the two-day Southeast European Cooperation Process Summit (SEECP) in Bosnia's capital Sarajevo.

"Turkey has some requests in this regard. This is not a new issue on the agenda. We discussed this issue in our meeting in Ankara this May," said Dodik.

Erdogan earlier on Monday met with all three members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

FETO and its U.S.-based leader Fetullah Gulen orchestrated the defeated coup on July 15, 2016, which left 251 people martyred and nearly 2,200 injured.

Ankara also accuses FETO of being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police, and judiciary.
