Lebanese Prime Minister Hassan Diab declares Wednesday will be a national day of mourning for the victims of the huge blast at Beirut port, state-run National News Agency reports.
The number of those killed or wounded in the blast remains unclear.
Local television reports quoted hospital sources as saying some 400 to 500 people have been wounded, and that all of the hospitals in the capital are overwhelmed as people are brought in.
Lebanese President Michel Aoun has called for an emergency meeting of the National Defence Council.
