Over 1,600 new coronavirus cases and more than 1,000 recoveries were reported in Turkey on Friday.
The country's overall infection count to date reached 288,126 with new 1,671 virus cases, wrote Health Minister Fahrettin Koca on Twitter, citing Health Ministry data.
Koca said 1,117 more patients recovered over the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 256,524.
The death toll rose by 56 to reach 6,951, he added.
A total of 112,213 more COVID-19 tests were done over the past day, pushing the total up to over 8.3 million.
The number of patients in critical condition stands at 1,223, the data showed.
Across the world, COVID-19 has claimed almost 910,000 lives in 188 countries and regions since last December.
The US, India, Brazil and Russia are currently the worst-hit countries.
Over 28.2 million COVID-19 cases have been reported worldwide, with recoveries over 19 million, according to figures compiled by the US' Johns Hopkins University.
