In his statement, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressed his concerns regarding the activities of the United States in Syria and its support for groups with ties to the bloody-minded PKK terror group, which pose a threat to Türkiye's national security.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressed his concerns about the Turkish UAV shot down by the USA in Syria. Erdoğan questioned the nature of the alliance within NATO between Turkey and the USA, highlighting the security problem that has arisen due to the incident.
"We acknowledge the recent statement by the US President concerning their activities in Syria, and we have concerns about the implications of these actions. Specifically, the activities conducted by the US in Syria, particularly in collaboration with elements linked to the PKK, pose an extraordinary threat to Türkiye's national security. As allies within NATO, we are expected to stand together. However, the recent incident involving the downing of a Turkish UAV by the USA raises questions about the nature of our alliance. This has created a significant security issue between our two nations. The statement not only contradicts the spirit of our alliance and strategic partnership but also has the potential to destabilize the region and embolden terrorist organizations seeking to sow division," Erdoğan stressed in his speech while speaking at the at the closing ceremony of the Türkiye-Africa 4th Business and Economy Forum on Friday.
