Kazakhstan denies banning export of dual-use goods to Russia

Kazakhstan has denied media reports claiming it banned the export of 106 types of dual-use goods to Russia, calling the statements attributed to Deputy Trade Minister Kairat Torebayev as incorrect.

"Regulation of trade relations between Kazakhstan and Russia occurs in full accordance with the provisions of the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). There are no bans on the export of any goods to the Russian Federation in connection with anti-Russian sanctions," the Kazakh Trade Ministry said in a statement late Thursday.

It said Kazakhstan's trade in dual-use goods is carried out in accordance with the country's international obligations, which it said are subject to export control.

Import, export, and transit of such products is possible only with appropriate licenses, the ministry said, adding that "the export control of dual-use goods has been carried out for over 20 years in accordance with international export control regimes."

Earlier, it was claimed that Astana suspended exports of goods to Russia that can be used for military purposes such as drones, their components, chips, and special electronics.
