Russia on Thursday revoked its ratification of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) after President Vladimir Putin signed the relevant bill.
The Russian parliament had earlier voted for the bill that repeals Article 1 of the law, On Ratification of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, canceling the ratification.
Russia says the change puts it on equal footing with the U.S., which signed but never ratified the 1996 treaty, which Russia ratified in the year 2000.
