Norway's Crown Prince Haakon arrives in Munich for state visit

Norway's Crown Prince Haakon arrived in Munich on Monday to kick off his four-day trip to Germany.
The head of the Bavarian State Chancellery, Florian Herrmann, welcomed the 50-year-old prince at the airport.
A dinner with Bavarian Premier Markus Söder is planned for the evening in the Kaisersaal, or Imperial Hall, of the Munich Residence, a former royal palace in the Bavarian capital.
The key themes of the royal visit, according to the Norwegian embassy, include the economy, energy, shipping, defence and culture.
Norwegian King Harald V's son plans to visit the defence company Krauss-Maffei Wegmann in Munich on Tuesday. Norway has ordered 54 Leopard 2 tanks from the firm.
Haakon is then due to travel to Hamburg and Berlin. During his visit to the capital on Thursday, Crown Princess Mette-Marit plans to accompany him. They will both visit the Berlin Wall Memorial and a commemoration ceremony marking the fall of the wall in 1989.
Haakon is scheduled to meet Chancellor Olaf Scholz and President Frank-Walter Steinmeier while in Berlin.
The trip is meant to strengthen the close relations between the two countries. It is also intended to emphasize common values, for example in matters of democracy.
In addition, oil and gas-rich Norway wants to show itself to be a solid economic partner for Germany on energy issues. The Scandinavian non-EU country has been Germany's most important gas supplier since Russia's withdrawal in the wake of the war in Ukraine.
