The U.S. is in talks with Greece on purchasing artillery shells for Ukraine, Greek media reported Tuesday.
The U.S. plans to buy 50,000 105mm caliber, 20,000 155mm caliber and 5,000 larger 203mm caliber shells in an effort to replenish Ukrainian stocks, said the Kathimerini daily, adding negotiations are in the final phase.
It noted that the total price negotiated by the Greek side is $47 million.
The European Union has pledged to provide Kyiv with one million 155mm artillery rounds by March of next year.
However, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius warned on Nov. 14 that the pledge will not be met.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Nov. 17 that deliveries of shells from the country's Western allies have significantly slowed down.
