NASA astronaut Andreas Mogensen recently took photos of the Nemrut Caldera in Türkiye's Bitlis province from space.
In one of the photos, Nemrut Crater Lake was captured in the same frame as Tatvan district and Lake Van.
The Nemrut Caldera, a crater-like hollow formed after an eruption in the now-dormant Nemrut volcano located at an altitude of 2,250 meters (7,381 feet), stands out with its hot and cold lakes, ice cave, steam chimney, lava ruins and rich and endemic vegetation as well as its biodiversity.
"Nemrut Caldera, captivating people with its natural beauty, is visited by thousands of local and foreign tourists every year...The images of its beauty from space have additionally brought us joy, " said Tatvan District Governor Remzi Demir.
