Russia's defence ministry said on Wednesday talks between the Russian and French defence ministers showed "readiness for dialogue on Ukraine."
A ministry statement on the talks between Sergei Shoigu and Sebastien Lecornu also said any notion of holding a meeting on Ukraine in Switzerland was "pointless" without Russia participating.
The statement said Shoigu noted any "practical implementation" of French President Emmanuel Macron's suggestion of sending troops to France would "create problems for France."
