Russian Defence Minister Andrei Belousov had a telephone conversation with U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on Friday on Moscow's initiative, the Russian ministry said.
They discussed "the issue of preventing security threats and reducing the risk of possible escalation," the ministry said.
