The United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia came under a new wave of drone attacks Friday, with both countries reporting interceptions.

The UAE Defense Ministry said air defense systems were "actively engaging" incoming missiles and drones.

"The sounds heard across the country are the result of ongoing engaging operations of missiles and UAVs," it said in a post on the US social media platform X.

Saudi Arabia's Defense Ministry said in separate X posts that its forces intercepted and destroyed 14 drones during the latest attacks.

The region has been on alert since the US and Israel launched an air offensive on Feb. 28, killing more than 1,340 people so far, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel along with Jordan, Iraq and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, causing casualties and damage to infrastructure while disrupting global markets and aviation.
