Republican Clay Fuller on Tuesday won the Georgia runoff, succeeding former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene in the US House of Representatives.
Fuller, who was endorsed by President Donald Trump, defeated Democrat Shawn Harris in the runoff.
The seat in Georgia's 14th Congressional District became open after Greene resigned in January following a public break with Trump over his handling of the release of files tied to the investigation of the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The special election initially advanced to a runoff after no candidate in the all‑party primary garnered a majority of the vote.
Fuller — a district attorney and longtime Republican figure — entered Tuesday's contest as the clear favorite after Republican candidates collectively received roughly 60% of the vote in the first round.
US House Speaker Mike Johnson congratulated Congressman-elect Fuller on winning the special election.
"I look forward to working together to continue delivering results and saving America," Johnson said on US social media company X.
