The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus on Thursday underlined the importance of the Turkish army's presence on the island, noting that the army plays a strong role in the region.
"The existence of Turkish army in Cyprus has a critical importance," said Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu, during his meeting with Turkish Land Forces Commander General Metin Tokel, who was visiting to the island to inspect the Turkish Cypriot Peacekeeping Forces Command.
"The Turkish Armed Forces is the guarantee for security and peace in the island," said Ertuğruloğlu.
"The existence of the Turkish army on the island is the strongest guarantee of Turkish Cypriots' peace, existence, security and feature," he further said.
