Russian President Vladimir Putin's special envoy Kirill Dmitriev called media reports about Russian tankers on their way to the United States changing course "fake news" in a comment on Twitter.
The tankers were continuing on their course, he said.
The Kremlin said on Thursday that diesel shipped by Russia would make its way to buyers.
