Governor Osman Varol pointed finger at the significance of Ağrı, which shares an 87-kilometer border with Iran, as a target for immigration, particularly from Afghanistan. He emphasized the comprehensive measures taken to secure the border and stated: "We have completed approximately 84 kilometers of the modular border wall along our 87-kilometer border. The border wall stands at a height of about 3 meters and is topped with a 1-meter razor wire. However, it is more than just a wall; it constitutes an integrated border security system with various additional components. Inside the 84-kilometer stretch of the wall, we have an asphalt road and lighting systems. Adjacent to the wall, we have security cameras equipped with both night vision and thermal capabilities."
