Critical equipment for Türkiye’s national tank, ALTAY, comes from ASELSAN

The ALTAY tanks, whose first delivery will take place on Tuesday, feature ASELSAN's signature high firepower, survivability, and advanced protection technologies. Thanks to systems developed in line with modern combat conditions, ALTAY has demonstrated superior performance in live-fire tests and is regarded as one of the best in its class. Within this scope, the following systems have been integrated into ALTAY: the VOLKAN-II Tank Fire Control System, Remote-Controlled Weapon System, Tank Command and Control Information System, Internal Communication System, Tank Laser Warning System, Tank Driver Vision System, Active Protection System (AKKOR), Battlefield Recognition and Identification System, ÖRÜMCEK Short-Range Surveillance System (YAMGÖZ), Gunner Secondary Sight Unit, Tank Crew Training System, radios, and sliding ring systems. The AKKOR Active Protection System, originally developed by ASELSAN, provides 360-degree protection for the tank, maximizing its survivability. Equipped with radar technology that detects threats instantly, AKKOR brings ALTAY to a level of protection possessed by only a few armies in the world. The embedded simulator TMES inside the tank provides the crew with the opportunity to train in a virtual environment using real user interfaces. Thanks to this system, personnel can undertake their missions much better prepared, using scenarios loaded prior to operations. These systems, developed with national resources, have placed ASELSAN among the few companies capable of developing all mission equipment of a tank in-house. This enables ASELSAN to compete with global giants both in new tank production and in the modernization of existing tanks. In addition, the national periscope systems developed by ASELSAN engineers serve as the 'eyes' of ALTAY, providing the tank crew with a wide field of view, highly accurate detection, and effective surveillance capabilities.
