Türkiye’s March 31 local elections in 10 questions

Türkiye will go to the polls on Sunday, March 31, 2024, to elect its new local administrators. According to the election calendar prepared by the Supreme Election Council (YSK) for the Local Administration General Elections to be held on March 31, the process is underway. In the elections, 81 provincial, 973 district, 390 township mayors, and 50,336 muhtars will be determined, and provincial general assembly membership and municipal council membership elections will also be held.

- What are the voting hours? The Supreme Election Council (YSK) has decided to move the voting hours one hour earlier in 32 eastern provinces due to the election being held in March, taking into account the weather conditions and the sunset time. Therefore, in Adıyaman, Ağrı, Artvin, Bingöl, Bitlis, Diyarbakır, Elazığ, Erzincan, Erzurum, Gaziantep, Giresun, Gümüşhane, Hakkari, Kars, Malatya, Kahramanmaraş, Mardin, Muş, Ordu, Rize, Siirt, Sivas, Trabzon, Tunceli, Şanlıurfa, Van, Bayburt, Batman, Şırnak, Ardahan, Iğdır, Kilis provinces, and in prisons located in these provinces, the voting hours will be from 07:00 to 16:00. In other provinces, the voting hours will be from 08:00 to 17:00.
